About This Journal

Welcome to our journey to adopt Katherine! We are so excited that you are able to join us as we travel to China to bring our little one home. We hope that you find our journal enjoyable and educational but more importantly we pray that this journal is a source of encouragement for those that are considering adoption or are in the process of adopting.

“An invisible red thread connects those destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but never break.”
- Chinese Proverb

It is hard to imagine that we have been married for fifteen years, and have been best friends for over half of our lives. Time seems to fly by when you are sharing it with your best friend and the love of your life.

We have been blessed with a wonderful nine year old son, named Hunter. He is kind, funny and has a big heart. He is so excited to travel to China and bring his little sister home. He is going to be a wonderful big brother.

We’ve been asked many times now, “Why did you decide to adopt, and why China?” and we always find it difficult to really put into a brief response something that has grown deeply in our hearts. The simplest and truest answer is that we feel this is God’s plan for our family. We believe He has placed a few special people and cirmcumstances in our lives to bring us to this decision.

Our reasons for adopting are a mix of seeing the need of so many children without a place to call home, and wanting to add to our family. Our desire to adopt has deepened out of the research and information we have read. We were amazed to hear there are more than 30 million orphaned children around the world. Nearly 2 million of them are in China, and it is estimated that only 2% of these children will ever have a forever family.

We feel that we were always meant to be Katherine’s parents, and her forever family.

“Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west.”
- Isaiah 43:5

We would like to express our love and appreciation to our family and friends who have supported us while we waited for Katherine Mei to come home.

Thank you so much for visiting us during our journey.
Michelle, Trey, Hunter, and Katherine

“Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!”
