getting comfortable

November 19, 2012 – Today we did a little shopping and pretty much hung out in our hotel rooms.  It is exhausting, and sometimes dangerous just getting around with our group.  I am really missing home…the fresh air, the space, and not being stared at like we are from Mars.

Noah is starting to get comfortable in our family and testing his boundaries.  He is not used to being told no.  So today was tough for him.  He is such a smart little guy, and I know he’ll catch on quickly.  He is also starting to eat foods that I can make at home too.  The orphanage staff was very clear that he likes fish soup, and doesn’t like bread products.  I thought, great…I can’t remember the last time I whipped up fish soup, and one thing is for sure, if you are a Smith, you like bread products!  He tried some sweet bread today and liked it, and he loves Cheerios.  So there’s hope I won’t have to figure out how to make fish soup and rice congee after all!

Tomorrow we leave the hotel at 7:55 am and go to the US Consulate for the swearing in ceremony, and Noah becomes a US citizen!  So glad we will be heading home soon as a family of seven!
