Hunter’s 21, and like all old people say, “I can remember the day he was born like it
was yesterday.”  And it’s true, it doesn’t seem possible that he can be this old already.
But he is, and today we celebrate a smart, strong-willed, faithful young man who has
such a bright future ahead of him.  We couldn’t be more proud of our oldest.
Happy birthday Hunter!  May you have an amazing year.

a small break

Hunter’s been attending school for the last 2 years without a summer break.  He’s mentioned he just might loose his mind if he doesn’t get some time off soon.

So for the last two weeks in between summer and fall semesters he’s been taking some short trips to get away and relax before his final year of school.

It’s been neat to see some of the pictures he’s taken and some of the places he’s been.  I love this picture.  It was taken in one of our favorite cities.  My not so favorite picture (because I’m his mama) is of him sitting on the edge of a cliff at the top of a mountain.

puppy love

Snapchat-2721625441A classmate of Hunter’s brought to school 10 day old puppies that she’s caring for because the mom was hit by a car and didn’t make it.  The puppies eyes haven’t even opened yet and they have to be fed every 2 hours so she brings them with her to school.

Hunter spent some time feeding and loving on them and was just completely in love when he told me about them.  I agreed they were adorable but just smiled and said, “We’re not getting a puppy.”

Hunter loves school.  He’s doing so well, and loves opportunities like this.  I can’t wait to see what field of veterinary care he goes into.  I have a feeling it’s not going to be a traditional veterinary clinic.

Yep, he’s 20.
For his birthday we surprised him with a few days at the beach.
Happy Birthday Hunter!  We’re so proud of the man you’ve become.

a voter

Hunter voted in his first presidential election today.
He even received cheers and a round of applause for being a first time voter.
(I tell you, this kind of stuff only happens to him.)

college life

10154623558404320Hunter is loving college life and the program that he’s in.  When he’s not at school or work, he’s studying either with his classmates or in his room.  The classes are tough but he totally loves it.  He received a letter of invitation recently to join the Gamma Beta Phi National Honor Society with a 4.0 GPA.  (I really think I was more excited for him than he was about the whole thing.)

One of the perks of the program are all of the animals he gets to interact with and love on.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen him happier than when he’s with an animal.  So glad he found his passion so early in life.

sophomore year

IMG_0722Hunter started his sophomore year of school last week.  He’s completed almost all of his general education classes and is now working on getting his Vet Tech degree.  This program was super competitive to get into.  He’s one of 30 people accepted into the program this year and he’s the only guy.  (I don’t think he’s too upset about that!)

I get such a kick out of listening to him talk about his work or course load.  He’s definitely found his calling.
